PROBLEM TO SOLVE
While there are books and social media feeds dedicated to unpacking one’s social identity, few, if any, magazines offer a curated and thematic investigation on these topics.
At its core, Filament is about unlearning. It invites readers to examine the ways they’ve been socialized and offers thoughtful paths toward more authentic ways of being.
This issue focuses on unpacking compulsory monogamy.
SOLUTION
Filament emphasizes legibility through thoughtful typographic hierarchy and dialed in micro-type. Disruptive elements—like pixelated headlines, pull quotes, and illustrated interstitials—echo the magazine’s ethos of challenging convention. These visual interruptions invite pause and reflection, while clear thematic dividers ground the reader in the editorial journey.
NAVIGATIONAL ELEMENTS
These spreads divide the content, intentionally moving the reader through the carefully ordered storytelling. Each divider includes a quote, setting the tone for the reading ahead.
